Man intentionally crashes car into crowd: At least 8 people injured

Sunnyvale authorities arrested the man who crashed his car into a crowd of people severely injuring eight people on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at around 6:40 p.m. near a shopping mall where pedestrians were waiting to cross the road. The driver of a 2010 black Toyota Corolla crashed the car into people. At least eight of them were hospitalized following the incident including a 13-year-old.

Witnesses described that the suspect was not trying to stop his car or to veer away as he deliberately targeted people.

Jim Choi, The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety's captain said that the crash is believed to be intentional based on "some of the witness statements" and that the victims were walking across the intersection or waiting to cross when the incident unfolded.
