Convicted 1997 murderer expected to die by lethal injection

A 42-year-old inmate accused of killing four people in Pelham in 1997 is expected to be executed in May 2019.

Last week, the Alabama Supreme Court has set the May 16 as the date of execution of Michael Brandon Samra who was found guilty in the grisly murder of Randy Duke and his fiancee Dedra Mims Hunt as well as her two daughters, Chelisa Nicole Hunt, 6, and Chelsea Marie Hunt, 7.

Samra remains in death row inside William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility awaiting his execution by lethal injection.

Court records revealed that Randy Duke and Dedra Hunt died from several gunshot wounds while the toddlers' throats were slashed by Samra and his accomplice Mark Duke, the son of Randy Duke.
