A Marine was charged following the shooting death of another Marine at the Marine Corps Air Base in Beaufort, South Carolina.

According to investigators, Cap. Tyler P. Wallingford, 21, of Standish, Maine, was shot dead in a barracks on Friday night. The second Marine corporal, Spencer T. Daily, was suspected in the death of Wallingford.

Both men were aeronautical technicians from the same fighter attack training squadron. The Naval Criminal Investigation Service was investigating the shooting.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Wallingford joined the Marines in 2016 and had previously served as a volunteer firefighter in Standish.
