The island nation faces the largest epidemic of viral infection, with more than 115,000 cases. According to the Associated Press, anti-vaxxers are not the driving force behind the rise.
Children under 15 were killed by the epidemic.
In the United States, the number of measles cases has increased. Last week, Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a public health emergency in parts of Brooklyn following a widespread outbreak in Williamsburg.
