News outlets reported that the adopted brother of the Golden State Warriors player Kevin Durant was shot dead last Thursday while he exited a nightclub where he celebrated his birthday.
According to police, an armed man opened fire repeatedly at Clifford Dixon, 32-year-old, in the parking lot of the SL Lounge in the early morning of Thursday few minutes after his arrival.
He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was prounonced dead shortly afterwards.
Durant's family expressed their sadness toward the incident via twitter: "Our family was an extension of his & we shared wonderful memories. His transition is an incredible loss for all of us who loved him, he will be missed dearly."
The shooter was arrested in a nearby area.
