Auburn news, California news.

Authorities announced on Monday that the body of the man who fell into Auburn river while taking pictures has been recovered.

The victim, identified as Andy Odon Ortega Fonseca, was reportedly capturing pictures as he walked along the river shore with his fiancee. According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office the man fell at one point and "was unable to get out of the swift moving water."

On a Facebook video, rescue workers can be seen searching the area. Police said that the dive team, park rangers, Cal. firefighters and the office's air unit all worked tirelessly to recover the victim's body.

"We can't stress how dangerous river water is, especially in this time of year," the office statement read. "It is easy to get swept under the current even when the water appears to be calm."
