June Shannon, 39, "Mama June", a reality TV star who gained fame on TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo", and her 43-year-old boyfriend, 43-year-old Eugene Doak, were arrested Wednesday at a gas station in Alabama after MPs received a report of domestic violence.
According to sheriff Andre Brunson, the two were returning home after a night of play. Both were sitting in Shannon's vehicle when the police officers who fired back found drugs.
The sheriff said that Shannon was very kind and fun, of course, and we did not encounter any problems with either during the arrest.
Despite his fame, Brunson said he "was not too familiar with Mama June and the entire TV series".
Shannon and Doak were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug accessories, and Doak was charged with domestic violence, according to the sheriff.
He added that the couple would soon be in court for their initial appearance.
