Rutland County news, Vermont news.

Police say 53-year-old Stacey L. Vaillancourt of Rutland, a child care provider in Vermont, was arrested on Monday following the death of 6-month-old Harper Rose Briar in a licensed child care facility by the State in Vaillancourt on January 24th. An autopsy performed last week revealed that the girl had Pittsford, who died of diphenhydramine poisoning.

Diphenhydramine is the active ingredient in over-the-counter antihistamines and should not be used in infants unless prescribed by a physician.

Vaillancourt appeared in the Vermont Superior Court on Monday on charges of manslaughter and cruelty to a child. She pleaded not guilty before being released on bail of $ 25,000, reports WVNY.

Dozens of family members of the girl appeared in court while wearing Justice for Harper Rose t-shirts.
