6-month-old infant dies in daycare after being given antihistamine

A daycare owner is currently facing manslaughter and cruelty to a child charges after she allegedly gave an infant an overdose of antihistamine.

Stacey Vailancourt, 53-year-old, had given the 6-month-old Harper Rose Briar the antihistamine in order to make her sleep. When the baby became unresponsive she called police for help.

"Toxicology testing determined that Harper Briar had high concentrations of diphenhydramine in her body," according to a news release.

Diphenhydramine is a sedating ingredient that is strictly denied to use on infants without a medical prescription.

The victim was described as the light of her family, a perfect princess that brought happiness to everyone.
