Indiana teen killed in car crash identified

An Evansville teen has been killed after a two-car collision on Indiana 57 west of Petersburg Road, the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office said.

According to Coroner Steve Lockyear, the tragedy occurred around 6:42 p.m. during which, 17-year-old Joshua S. Schaefer was severely injured. He was transferred to Deaconess Midtown Hospital and remains in the intensive care unit where he was prounonced dead at about 10:45 p.m.

The second car was reportedly carrying two individuals who also were wounded, one of them was identified as 39-year-old Dan Dix of Evansville.

The accident leaded the Indiana 57 to be closed between Petersburg and Oak Hill roads for a long time, news outlets said.
