Georgia police announced on Sunday the arrest of the main suspect in the shooting death of Jack Hough as he sat inside his vehicle.

DeMarvin Bennett, 24, was taken into Gainsville police custody in connection with the fatal shooting that took the life of the 73-year-old Air Force veteran during a attempted robbery. Hough was reportedly shot twice as he fought the suspect inside his car in a CVs parking lot.

"Mrs. Hough lost a wonderful husband, the community lost a wonderful man," Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish said after the arrest. "I think they were relieved. I don't think they can be happy at this time."

Authorities track down the suspect from evidence collected from the crime scene. They also were able to retrieve the gun used in the shooting.
