California suspect enjoys mugshot after alleged fatal stabbing

A California man who allegedly stabbed his friend to death at a motel Saturday has offered a smile to the public in his mugshot.

On Saturday evening, 47-year-old Robert Martinez allegedly attacked a man with a knife at the Palm Tree Motel in San Jose before running away from the crime scene. He was arrested shortly later, police said.

According to reports, the pair were living in the same motel but at separated rooms.

The cause of the attack was not determined by authorities.

The victim who suffered several stab injuries was rushed to the hospital where he died late in the night.

Authorities said that Martinez was taken to Santa Clara County Jail with charges of suspicion of murder.
