Man killed in West Oakland when the trailer he was living in caught fire

Officials said a man died Monday morning in West Oakland when his trailer caught fire.

The name of the man was not revealed.

The fire was reported at 4:46 pm Monday in the caravan, which was parked in a parking lot at 30 and Linden Streets.

Zoraida Diaz, the fire chief of the battalion, said that when the firefighters arrived, the caravan was on fire. The fire was then controlled in about 15 minutes and the man was found dead inside.

According to Diaz, the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Officials learned that the man lived in the caravan while his next house was being renovated. The man was last seen around 3 pm Sunday in a shop in the area.
