New Jersey police investigate a murder-suicide after man kills wife, jumps off bridge

New Jersey authorities said that a woman was discovered dead in her house Monday while her husband apparently committed a suicide act by jumping off a bridge.

News outlets reported that the vehicle of Kenneth Bartone was found parked at 7 a.m. on the Thomas Edison Memorial Bridge. According to Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, 48-year-old Denise Bartone who was the former chairwoman of the Freehold Township Education Foundation was murdered the same day in the family house in Freehold.

Although the couple three daughters were inside the home, they were apparently not harmed and are in the couple's family custody.

The killings were described as a murder-suicide as investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident.
