An Elgin man has been charged with four felony retail robberies he is accused of committing in 17 days.
Angel A. Ortiz-Nunez, 34-year-old, was arrested on Jan. 19 after he allegedly stole "consumable goods" worth of $300 from Jewel-Osco.
Ortiz-Nunez was released from jail after his arrest on his own recognizance despite having a criminal history of robberies. Authorities continued the investigation and connected the suspect to three other thefts: In Walmart, Woodman's and Menard's.
Ortiz-Nunez is under police custody on $96,700 bail and should post at least $9,670 in order to be released as his case is pending. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to request a bail reduction.
