A man was charged after an eight-week-old girl was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital yesterday, suffering multiple injuries.
Detectives from the Sexual Abuse and Sexual Crime Against Children Brigade were summoned to the hospital on Friday, January 25, 2019, after the child was diagnosed with brain bleeding, fractures in the left leg and possible detached retinas.
The detectives spoke with the 26-year-old father of the child before he was arrested and taken to the Maroubra police station, where he was charged with seriously injuring the girl.
The man was released on strict conditional bail to appear in Waverley local court next Thursday.
An order for domestic violence apprehended (ADVO) was taken against the man.
The baby continues to receive treatment at the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
