Police located the body of a man who was reported missing in Nelson Bay

Police found the body of a man reportedly missing in Nelson Bay last week.

A 90-year-old man was reported missing by his family on Thursday 17 January 2019 after failing to return home.

Police from the Port Stephens Hunter Police District conducted a thorough search of the man and his car.

On Friday, January 25, at around 6 am, a passing motorist saw a vehicle coming down a dike near the Pacific Highway access ramp in Raleigh and notified the police.

The body of a man, who has not yet been officially identified, was inside the car.

Investigations into the incident are continuing, but his death is not considered suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
