Man charged with assault and outstanding warrants after attempting to rob a man

A man was charged with assault and outstanding warrants after attempting to rob a man in western Sydney last year.

On Saturday, November 24, 2018, shortly after 5 pm, a 28-year-old man was waiting for a bus at the St Marys Bus interchange when a 33-year-old man approached him.

The old man reportedly threatened the victim, who refused to hand over his property.

The two men then boarded a bus and the culprit allegedly slapped the victim before sitting down.

The incident was then reported to the police.

North West Transportation Task Force officers have opened an investigation.

Today, Thursday, January 24, 2019, the police arrested the 33-year-old man at an address in Tregear.

He was taken to the Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with assault with intent to steal, common assault and three unexecuted warrants.

He was denied bail today in the local Mt. Druitt Court.
