A man charged after a woman was allegedly detained near Wollongong

A man was charged after allegedly arresting a woman against his will in a house near Wollongong last night.

On Sunday, January 20, 2019, officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District were summoned to their home, Second Avenue, Warung, about 10 kilometers south of Wollongong, following reports of a woman being injured.

Police say the man arrested the woman against her will, threatened her with a firearm before escaping and alerted the police.

The 25-year-old woman was slightly injured in the arms and was treated on site by paramedics from NSW.

After investigation, a 29-year-old man was arrested in front of a house on Second Avenue, Warrawong, today before 11 am

He was taken to the Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with committing a serious crime, causing real physical harm, possession of a prohibited weapon (x3), and possession of prohibited drugs.

The man was denied bail to appear in the Warrawong District Court on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
