A former Patrick Henry High School science teacher was sentenced to 2 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a student.

Miranda Nicole Pauley, 35, of Hanover County, pleaded guilty in October to four counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor while serving in a custodial role. Pauley also pleaded guilty to a charge of using a communications system to solicit a minor. The former teacher's pleas were part of a plea deal with prosecutors under which she would serve two years in prison.

Pauley was arrested in late May 2018 after her sexual relationship with a student came to light. One of these sexual misconduct encounters took place in the grounds of the school.

Pauley had been employed as a teacher in Hanover County since 2006. She was a substitute teacher for the county from 2003-2005.
