A woman in her 50s was at a bus bench Saturday in Santa Ana when a man attacked and raped her at a bus stop in Santa Ana.

The assault occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a bus station outside the MacArthur Village condo complex, near the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Bristol Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. It's a well-trafficked intersection lined with numerous businesses, including a Click-fil-A, In-N-Out Burger and Chase Bank.

The suspect, who was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey, did not show a weapon in the attack, Bertagna said.

Authorities announced the arrest via a tweet from the Santa Ana Police Department posted at 3:40 p.m. Thursday. The department later identified the suspect as Erick Alvarez Hernandez, 27, of Santa Ana.

He was arrested as he was leaving his workplace in Irvine and held on suspicion of multiple offenses including sexual assault and kidnapping. He was booked into the Orange County Men’s Central Jail and held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
