A manhunt is underway in Houston, Texas, for a gunman who attacked a young family in a drive-by shooting, killing a seven-year-old girl, authorities are offering $75,000 reward for anybody who comes up with useful information.

police are still questioning the victim's young siblings who were sitting next to her during the attack, a sketch of the attacker could be released Thursday.

Jazmine Barnes was killed on Sunday near a Walmart along the east Beltway and Wallisville Road.

The shooting happened while the Barnes was inside her family's vehicle with her mother and siblings.

the horrific killing in Houston, on the second-to-last day of the year, has drawn wide attention. It has been denounced by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and gained traction after being the focus of writer and activist Shaun King and civil rights lawyer Lee Merritt, who say they’ve raised $100,000 in a private fundraising effort for any information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

authorities say the unidentified gunman is a bearded white male in his 40s, wearing a red sweatshirt, according to Ms. Washington's 15-year-old daughter, who got a glimpse of the man.

a public funeral would be held Jan. 8 at Green House International Church at 200 W. Greens Rd. and a balloon release honoring Jazmine and all murder victims in Houston/Harris County will follow the service.
